Leaving Killarney around 10.00-10.30am. you travel via Aghadoe to Kate Kearneys Cottage. It is imperative that you stop stop here and prepare for your journey into the mountains: ie. you fuel up with an Irish Coffee. Thence your carriage awaits with a sure footed pony to take you through the most beautiful Gap in Ireland. Kate Kearneys CottageHere you sample Kate's Irish Coffee before you begin your journey. Having chosen your pony, or pony and carriage you head off through the Gap

Travelling through the mountains we pass five lakes. This one is known as the Black Lack because of the shadow of the mountain..A leprechaun will tell you that it is bottomless and ask you to hop in and see for yourself. My advice is do not listen to HIM.
Here we come to the narrowest part of the Pass and this is where your pony shines. It is a long tough climb to the top of this hill where the little bridge crosses the stram yet again and we arrive at the last of the small lakes. Here St. Patrick disposed of the last remaining snake in Ireland, and passing this lake on a windy night, having left Kate Kearnys, some people have said that they heard the snake calling to to be set free
